FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 9
Not Recording:
'Look sharp'
Not Recording: 'One more time'
Not Recording: 'Fit'
Not Recording: 'On your radio'
Not Recording: 'Sunday papers'
Not Recording: 'I'm the man'
Not Recording: 'Evil empire'
France 3 basement - 21:00-00:00 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

This rehearsal was not recorded.
We started with 'Look sharp', and then procedeed thru the repertoire. This is the day we tried 'On your radio' for the first time. It came out quite promising Surely we'll manage this one more easily than 'One more time', which still needs practicing.
For this rehearsal I changed radically my guitar sound, using only a clean, crisp sound. I just stepped on the GT2 unit for the "you gotta look sharp" sections. It was rather effective.

MONDAY 1st SEPTEMBER 2008

Recording: 'The fool on the hill' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude. Present: Julian, Doreen.

Starting the first flute part. After a while Julian was kind of exhausted so we stopped.

FRIDAY 29th AUGUST 2008

Recording: 'The fool on the hill' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude. Present: Doreen.

Adding the tambourine part, played by Doreen, to this family recording.

TUESDAY 19th AUGUST 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 8
Not Recording:
'Look sharp'
Not Recording: 'Sunday papers'
Not Recording: 'Fit'
Not Recording: 'One more time'
Not Recording: 'I'm the man'
Not Recording: 'Evil empire'
Not Recording: 'Jam'
France 3 basement - 21:00-00:00 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

I planned to record that rehearsal, but the batteries of my Minidisc were dead, so only 2 minutes of useless chat from the beggining of the session has been recorded. This blog entry is only here to witness that a rehearsal took place in this day and age. And a good one too, with the best version of "Fit" we ever played so far. And for the first time we played a real, long, jam. Cool, but no recording.

THURSDAY 14th AUGUST 2008

Recording: 'The fool on the hill'
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude. Present: Julian.

Starting the "studio" version of this family number, by doing the acoustic guitar track.

THURSDAY 24 JULY 2008

Recording: 'DisTracktion'
Bag-end studio - 23:00-02:00 - P: Dude.

Creating and recording from scratch a new intsrumental, just to inauguraute Yann's new terrific idea: a way to make music together, even though we live many kilometers away from each other. It was also for me a way to be acounted with a new music software called Tracktion. I did two tracks of rhythm guitars, and then some melody guitars. In between that I did some bass. I recorded all those instruments dry, hoping that Yann would do the producer's job.

SATURDAY 19th JULY 2008

Recording and filming: 'The fool on the hill (live at the wedding)'
Maggie's garden - afternoon - P: Joël. Present: friends and family.

This is the performance of "The fool on the hill", complete with flute played by Julian and tambourin played by Doreen. This was for my father's wedding. The children worked hard for this, and put all of their heart into it. I'm so proud.

THURSDAY 10th JULY 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 7
Not Recording:
'Look sharp'
Not Recording: 'Fit'
Not Recording: 'Sunday papers'
Not Recording: 'One more time'
Not Recording: 'I'm the man'
Not Recording: 'Evil empire'
France 3 basement - 21:00-00:00 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

This HAS NOT been recorded, but I've included it here just to keep tracks of all the Trio rehearsals. It was a good one. Finally we arranged the middle eight of 'Look sharp' to make it sound exactly like the live version, and we improved it a lot.

TUESDAY 30th JUNE 2008

Recording: 'Minister of rock'n'roll' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Doing the bass work for this boppin' Kravitz number.

MONDAY 12th MAY 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 6
Recording:
'Look sharp'
Recording: 'One more time'
Recording: 'Fit'
Recording: 'Evil empire'
Recording: 'Sunday papers'
Recording: 'I'm the man'
France 3 basement - 20:00-23:30 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

Some improvements happened during this reheasal: the drum solo in Look sharp is now smoking, we refined the bass part of 'Evil empire' (which got its first recording), we found an ending for 'Sunday papers' (and we used the mad acceleration ending just like in the live album) and we did a very great punkoid version of 'I'm the man'. Cool.

SATURDAY 3rd MAY 2008

Recording: 'Average person' (SI on take 1)
Bag-End studio - morning - P: Dude.

Recording the vocal part.

FRIDAY 2nd MAY 2008

Recording: 'Average person'
Bag-end studio - 17:00-18:00 - P: Dude.

Doing the piano work for this Paul McCartey song.

THURSDAY 1ST MAY 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 5
Recording:
'Fit'
Recording: 'Look sharp'
Recording: 'One more time'
Recording: 'I'm the man'
Recording: 'Sunday papers'
France 3 basement - 21:30-24:00 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

A very good rehearsal. For the first time my voice was well prepared so I could sing more easily. I also brought the acoustic for the first time, because we tried "Evil empire". I didn't record any take because it's still embryonic. "One more time" and "I'm the man" are still the songs that needs attention, but we did a very good "Sunday papers". Arnaud tried to play all the tunes with his fingers, instead of using a pick like all previous rehearsals.

SUNDAY 20th APRIL 2008

Recording: 'Hold me tight' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Money don't matter tonight' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Doing all the remaining vocals for the 'Hold me tight' cover with Patrick, and adding some more backing vocals to the Prince song in the process.

WEDNESDAY 9th APRIL 2008

Recording: 'Tomorrow never knows' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude, Val, Julian, Doreen.

Adding voices to my strange cover of 'Tomorrow never knows', along with some percussion (my two hands tapping on the wooden desk of my computer).

TUESDAY 8th APRIL 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 4
Recording:
'I'm the man'
Recording: 'Sunday papers'
Recording: 'Fit'
Recording: 'One more time'
Recording: 'Look sharp'
Recording: 'I'm the man'
France 3 basement - 21:00-24:30 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

Some hard work, trying to focus on details such as the beginning of "Sunday papers", or bringing out nuances in our playing. Still we have to play more and more.

FRIDAY 04th APRIL 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 3
Recording:
'Look sharp'
Recording: 'Fit'
Recording: 'One more time'
Recording: 'Sunday papers'
Recording: 'I'm the man'
France 3 basement - 21:00-24:00 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

Things are getting more precise: we tried "One more time" at a very fast tempo, and it's seems that 's just what was needed to make it rock. Plus my voice was quite warm and I managed to sing all the choruses in the high octave without getting tired and with a lot of energy. That one is going to be a killer live.
We started to work on "Fit". It's quite nice but I've got a hell of a lot of work to put into the guitar solo.
The other tracks went on as usual, "I'm the man" beeing the one that needs the more attention, yet.

SATURDAY 29th MARCh 2008

Recording: 'Tomorrow never knows' (take 1)
Bag-end studio - 07:30-8:00 - P: Dude.

Putting down the first element for this crazy cover: the gamelan-type-'I-don't-know-the-name-of-this-instrument'-thing.

TUESDAY 18th MARCH 2008

Recording: 'Dear boy' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Adding all the little comedy effects to this funny cover: my own speech, the voice of Thierry from the previous radio show where he defied me to do this cover, and some funny noises with guitar and piano. Very fun to do, and it allowed me to mix this cover and send it in time for it to be broadcasted live on the next day's show. Cool.

SATURDAY 15th MARCH 2008

Recording: 'Dear boy' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Finishing all the remaining vocals for 'Dear boy'. Hurray ! All of them have been double-tracked.

FRIDAY 14th MARCH 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 2
Recording:
'Sunday papers'
Recording: 'I'm the man'
Recording: 'Look sharp !'
Recording: 'One more time'
France 3 basement - 21:00-23:00 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

More rehearsal work with the New Trio. 'Look sharp' came out quiet well, but "I'm the man" is a wild beast we stil have to tame. But it is still better than 'One more time' which is the real challenge. We have to work, work work and then perhaps add a little work before being at ease with the crazy fast tempo of that one.

THURSDAY 13th MARCH 2008

Recording: 'Dear boy' (take 1)
Bag-end studio - 13:00-14:00 - P: Dude.

The day before I was listening to Big Mac's Beatles Radio Show, when suddenly he talked about me and challenged me to do a cover of Paul McCartney's "Dear boy", live on air ! Of course I took the challenge and said he will have the song ready for next week's show.
So now I had to work. So today I did the voices for the first verse. (the main voice in double-tracking and the backing vocals).

WEDNESDAY 12th MARCH 2008

Recording: 'The prophet's song' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

I think I finally managed to get a decent lead vocal for this impossible Queen song ! (At last. This must be the 4th or 5th attempt). This day I also made the first part of the echo extravaganza that is the middle of this song. (the first part means up until the Christmas choir).

MONDAY 10th MARCH 2008

Recording: 'Myst Cyan introduction'
Recording: 'Embrumage'
Bag-end studio - 13:30-14:00 - P: Dude.

Some more piano recordings: the very distinctive little jingle that starts every game in the Myst series, and a long improv.

TUESDAY 4th MARCH 2008

Rehearsal with the New Trio 1
Recording: 'Sunday papers'
Recording: 'Look sharp ! (unrehearsed)'
France 3 basement - 21:00-23:00 - P: Dude. - Present: Dude, Thierry, Arnaud.

The very first rehearsal of the new trio. A lot of it was better than I expected, some things I thought would be cool were a lot harder to do. We rehearsed two songs: "One more time" and "Sunday papers". The first one needs more practice. We also did a loose version of 'Look sharp' (just for fun because I didn't work it out yet). I recorded the last two numbers of the evening.

MONDAY 3rd MARCH 2008

Recording: 'Lost in a maze'
Recording: 'A slow song'
Recording:
'Running like mad through the maze - I'm losing
Recording:
patience - but then comes the enlightment'
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

The very first recording I ever made on the very first real piano I ever bought: Doreen's piano. I recorded with the Minidisc two improvs, and also an instrumental version of "A slow song", which I will augment with vocals later.

TUESDAY 12th FEBRUARY 2008

Recording: 'Minister of rock'n'roll'
Recording: 'On vit tous la même histoire'
France 3 basement - night - P: Dude.

Some nightdrumming ! ;)

FRIDAY 2nd FEBRUARY 2008

Recording: 'Look back in anger'
Recording: 'Friends' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Cousin Kevin' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'There there' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'The answer's at the end' (SI on take 1)'

Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

That afternoon, I did this very simple cover of 'Look back in anger". Then I added the voice to Led Zeppelin's 'Friends', did another pass at 'There there' (it's the third attempt). I think I'm getting close now. I got some time left so I managed to finish up 'Cousin Kevin', and I tried to put my voice into 'The answer's at the end', but I'm sure I will have to do it again.

THURSDAY 1st FEBRUARY 2008

Recording: 'Doctor, doctor'
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

I sooooo wanted to do it. I think I managed to pump it with the energy I was looking for. John Entwistle is God.

THURSDAY 6th DECEMBER 2007

Recording: 'Summer of '59' (take 1)
Recording:
Recording: 'Money don't matter tonight' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

Doing a complete cover from top to bottom: the amazing 'Summer of '59'. Also finshing the voices for Pepleux's "Maybe I'm amazed', and doing the lead vocals from 'Money don't matter tonight".

SUNDAY 2nd DECEMBER 2007

Recording: 'Soggy noodle'
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

A little ditty quickly recorded for the Ysn Tribute section.

MONDAY 22nd OCTOBER 2007

Recording: 'Money don't matter tonight' (take 1)
Recording: 'Only Mama knows' (take 1)
Recording: 'House of wax' (take 1)
Recording: 'Slipping and sliding' (take 1)
France 3 basement - evening - P: Dude.

All of the above are drums recording. This is the very night of Paul McCartney's 2007 Olympia concert, and I wasn't there :( . With any luck , I recorded my version of 'Only Mama knows' exactly at the same moment he was playing it :)

SATURDAY 20th OCTOBER 2007

Recording: 'The answer's at the end' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude. - Present: Val, Julian, Doreen.

Finally finding some time to add bass guitar to this old recording.

WEDNESDAY 05th SEPTEMBER 2007

Recording: 'Friends' (take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Doing one take of acoustic guitar for this superb Led Zeppelin song.

MONDAY 27th AUGUST 2007

Recording: 'Revolution 9' (take 1)
Recording: 'Sensation' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'We're not gonna take it' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Hold me tight' (SI on take 1)'

Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

Starting the stupid acoustic rendition of Revolution 9 with some voice elements: the various bits and pieces of speech that happens all along the track. I also did a cool "number 9" phrase, which I repeated ad nauseum, and the "allriiiiight" segments. Then I did some more vocal fixing on the Who's, I added the choruses to Patrick Lepleux's "Maybe I'm amazed", and I started putting voices down to another of Pat's cover: "Hold me tight". (the middle-8s).

FRIDAY 24th AUGUST 2007

Recording: 'Let me roll it ' (take 1)
Recording: 'Sensation' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'We're not gonna take it ' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

It's been quite a long time since my last recording session. That's because my main computer crashed, and it tool me almost 3 months to have it fixed and to re-install all my system. Add to that the summer holidays and there you go ! Take 1 of "let me roll it" is an instrumental version done by Patrick Lepleux from Ysn. I just added my vocals to it. Then I fixed some vocal parts on my Who project.

FRIDAY 4th MAY 2007

Recording: 'Real love'
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

That afternoon I had some unexpected free time to spend, and I felt in the mood for adding another cover to my Ysn tapes. So I did Real love, as a bare track, just a rich acoustic guitar, with simple vocals, and with two brilliant electric guitars panned hard left and hard right and playing all George's solos and fills. A complete cover done in just two hours.

WEDNESDAY 25th APRIL 2007

Recording: 'Music for a traveling museum' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

Putting down some more ideas, while upgrading the previous ones. Still only guitar and mellotron.

MONDAY 23rd APRIL 2007

Recording: 'Music for a traveling museum' (take 1)
Bag-end studio - night - P: Dude.

The start of this crazy but passionate project. After the sound of the green balls, putting down some guitar parts, and introducing the mellotron.

FRIDAY 30th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'There there' (remake)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

Redoing "There there", this time with overdubs. It's better, but I'm still not satisfied.

MONDAY 19th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Cheer down' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'There there' (acoustic take)
Bag-end studio - 13:00-14:30 - P: Dude.

Adding some vocals to "Cheer down": half of the backing vocals and a try at the lead. Then I did an acoustic take of "There there", but my voice was way too loud in the mix, so I guess I will have to do it again one day.

SATURDAY 17th March 2007

Recording: 'Cheer down' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - 22:20-24:00 - P: Dude.

I'm in a recording mood, nowadays :)
I did two rythm guitars for 'Cheer down': one clean that plays plain chords thru the song, and one slighty distorted which plays palm-muted root notes for the chords. Then I sarted doing the slide guitar solos. I'm not satisfied which the intro one yet, which I'll probably redo, but I'm really fond of my middle solo. I didn't think I could do it this well enough, considering the very little experience I have in the domain of bottleneck use.

THURSDAY 15th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Casimir Pulaski day'
Recording: 'Mother of violence'
Recording: 'She painted up her face' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Behind blue eyes' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Sensation' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Amazing journey' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'We're not gonna take it' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - 13:30-17:30 - P: Dude.

A very productive day of music ! I finally recorded my versions of 'Casimir Pulaski day' and 'Mother of violence', which I was planning to do for months now, and then I was warm enough to attack the beast: the second half of the 'Shove it right in' suite. It was pure fun, pure energy, pure music, .... God I felt so alive... After that I just couldn't stop: I re-did all those Who vocals I was struggling on for months, and got interrupted in the middle of 'We're not gonna take it'. Otherwise....

TUESDAY 13th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Cheer down' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Finally adding some bass to the drum part I recorded so long ago.

SATURDAY 3rd MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Friendly fire medley'
Recording: 'She painted up her face' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Great vocal works that day. The Sean Lennon medley really was just a warm-up thing. But then I finally started actually giving life to one my greatest musical fantasy: Flo & Eddie's part of the 'Shove it right in' extravaganza ! The instrumentation in this is done by a 14 year old boy (!) named Lou, which recorded his parts in just one day, without even previously knowing the song !

SUNDAY 25th FEBRUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Finally doing the guitar solo for this song. At first, I wanted to do it backwards, but then I chickened out.

THURSDAY 15th FEBRUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Recording the lovely backing vocals for this song.

THURSDAY 25th JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Doing two takes of voices. Each separated by an octave. I haven't decided which one tu use yet. But I have decided a major change: from now on my 'stage' name is going to be "Zongadude", and not the too-simplesque 'Dude' I used so far.

TUESDAY 23rd JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Finally doing that song. Adding bass and two guitars. Really an enjoyable session.

MONDAY 22nd JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Little lamb dragonfly' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - 13:30-14:30 - P: Dude.

Rapidly doing the final choir voices for David and going back to work.

SATURDAY 20th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Doing the lead vocal track for that crazy song.

THURSDAY 18th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Just before going to work, I did all the voices for the choir sections of '1985'.

TUESDAY 16th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Doing the all the other guitars except for the lead guitar solo to the coda.

MONDAY 15th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

The first recordings done with the use of my new E-MU box unit: fours guitars for '1985'. The main two guitars that emulates the piano, and the funky-Chic guitar that appears here and there. Working this this unit is so smooth, that I almost enjoy making recordings again. ;)

WEDNESDAY 3rd JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Little lamb dragonfly' (SI on take 1)
Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude. - Present: Val, Doreen, Julian.

After a two months break, recording has resumed in Bag-end studio. I finally managed to finish the bassline to 'Dragonfly' which I was doing with David for Ysn. And then I also did the bass for '1985' which was started a long time ago. This was the last recording I ever did with instruments and mikes directly plugged in to the computer. From now on, I would use my new E-MU box.

SATURDAY 21st OCTOBER 2006

2nd Live performance at the Beatles Day in Mons (Belgium)
Recording and filming:
'Getting closer'
Recording: 'Yer blues'
Recording: 'You never give me your money'
Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed'

Waux Hall, Mons, Belgium - afternoon - P: the people in charge of the PA system. - Present: Dude, Marco, Jean, Coco, Ozzy, Olivier, Watching Wheels, Filou, Mathilde, Claude Nine, and a whole lot of people....

For my return to the Beatles Day I wanted to do something different than the acoustic set I did last years. So I managed to get Stef and Boz to accept to reform the Power Trio and come with me to blast away 4 wild songs: 'Getting closer', 'Yer blues', 'You never give me your money', and 'Maybe I'm amazed'. To my great pleasure, the choice of the stelist was a incredible success: a countless number of people came to me to say they have been delighted to hear 'Getting closer' live. To me, it was only the realisation of a dream. I feel fucking lucky that what I wanted as a dream as been so well recieved by the audience. Sometimes I'm blessed.

Thanks to Marco, Juan Jose Alva, Jean-Claude Hocquet, and the amazing Mathilde for the photographs.

FRIDAY 20th OCTOBER 2006

Dude's Power Trio rehearsal 37
Recording:
'Drum duet'
Recording: 'Getting closer'
Recording: 'Yer blues'
Recording: 'You never give me your money'
Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed'

France 3 basement - 21:30-23:30 - P: Dude. - Present: Dude, Stef, Boz, Gringo.

Fourth rehearsal for the concert. My voice is back, and the music is not astounding, but it was a necessary rehearsal. Gringo was here, and before Stef arrived Gregg and I improvised a crazy drum duet. All of the rehearsal has been recorded.

SUNDAY 15th OCTOBER 2006

Dude's Power Trio rehearsal 36
Recording: 'Getting closer'

Recording: 'Yer blues'
Recording: 'You never give me your money'
Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed'
Horse Motel, Room B - 19:30-22:00 - P: Dude. Present: Dude, Stef, Boz.

Third rehearsal for the forthcoming Beatles Day 2006 performance. It was the first time I came to rehearse in the new and improved Gattaka playroom. The reahearsal was excellent. Very good overall sound (although my voice still hasn't recover). I tried to play on the Gretsch for a while, but it's lack of high notes prevented me from using it. (It sounded great on 'Yer blues', though). This has been recorded.

WEDNESDAY 11th OCTOBER 2006

Dude's Power Trio rehearsal 35
Recording:
'Getting closer'
Recording: 'Yer blues'
Recording: 'You never give me your money'
Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed'
France 3 basement - 19:30-22:00 - P: Dude. - Present: Dude, Stef, Boz.

Second rehearsal for the forthcoming Beatles Day 2006 performance. Playing "Getting closer" as a band for the very first time. Too bad I was terribly sick and my throat was completely soundless. I recorded the session anyway.

FRIDAY 29th SEPTEMBER 2006

Recording: 'Only one more kiss'
Recording: 'Behind blue eyes'
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Doing those two numbers in a very simple way. I also tried Mike Keneally's 'I'm afraid' but I don't think I did a good job, once again.

FRIDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER 2006

Recording: 'See-saw'
Recording: 'Paintbox'
Recording: 'Fat old sun'
Recording: 'Julia dream'
Recording: 'Grease'
Recording: 'Kids in America'
Recording: 'Welcome to the machine'
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

After a 6kms walk in the sunny country, I came home to record some acoustic stuff. The best recordings from this session are "Paintbox", "Julia dream", "Grease" and "Kids in America". The worst is "Welcome to the machine", and the rest is average ("See-saw" is not that bad).

SUNDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2006

Dude's Power Trio rehearsal 34
Recording: 'Yer blues'

Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed'
Recording: 'You never give me your money'
France 3 basement - 21:00-22:30 - P: Dude. - Present: Dude, Stef, Boz

The return of Dude's Power Trio, almost two years after the last rehearsal. The boys rehearsed songs for the forthcoming Beatles Day 2006 in Mons, Belgium. It was a cool rehearsal. Several takes of each numbers were done, and a recording has been made.

THURSDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2006

Recording: 'Touloutoutou (42 ans au compteur - tryptique#1) (demo)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Just before going to work I started to compose a song out of some french texts written by Thierry Pernin. If everything goes on as plan, I should obtain à three piece... ...something.

TUESDAY 5th SEPTEMBER 2006

Recording: 'Blood from a clone'
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Recording with the Minidisc this simple rendition of George Harrison's number.

MONDAY 28th AUGUST 2006

Recording: 'The deracined' (demo)
Recording: 'Black Sabbath'
Bag-end studio - all-day - P: Dude.

The first recording session since June. During the intermission, I moved, leaving not only the One-eyed Jack studio, but also my childhood home and land. It's time for a new beggining in a new place. Bag-end Studio is named like that because it is located on the top of a green hill which look just like the Shire. So be it. It took me a while to accomodate to the new place and actually record something. As an additional change, I permanently plugged my guitar into the Blue Devil. So for now on the guitar signal will non longer be directly injected into the computer. I also unearthed my old mixing board for the occasion.
The first thing I recorded in this new studio of mine is really just a rough demo of a two-intricated-guitars motif. For this I quicly set up the Blue Devil (Hell channel - Heat at maximum - Volume at 6 - EQ B-2 M+6 T+2 - Preset 9) and the GT2 (clean). I used the same setting (except Blue Devil preset 62) for the rough guitar of 'Black Sabbath'.

TUESDAY 20th JUNE 2006

Recording: 'Being for the benefit of Mr Kite' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Lover's leap' (SI on take 1)
