Doing a complete cover from top to bottom: the amazing 'Summer of '59'. Also finshing the voices for Pepleux's "Maybe I'm amazed', and doing the lead vocals from 'Money don't matter tonight".

Recording: 'House of wax' (take 1)
Recording: 'Slipping and sliding' (take 1)

All of the above are drums recording. This is the very night of Paul McCartney's 2007 Olympia concert, and I wasn't there :( . With any luck , I recorded my version of 'Only Mama knows' exactly at the same moment he was playing it :)

SATURDAY 20th OCTOBER 2007

Recording: 'The answer's at the end' (SI on take 1)

Finally finding some time to add bass guitar to this old recording.

Doing one take of acoustic guitar for this superb Led Zeppelin song.

MONDAY 27th AUGUST 2007

Recording: 'Revolution 9' (take 1)
Recording: 'Sensation' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'We're not gonna take it' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Maybe I'm amazed' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Hold me tight' (SI on take 1)'

Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

Starting the stupid acoustic rendition of Revolution 9 with some voice elements: the various bits and pieces of speech that happens all along the track. I also did a cool "number 9" phrase, which I repeated ad nauseum, and the "allriiiiight" segments. Then I did some more vocal fixing on the Who's, I added the choruses to Patrick Lepleux's "Maybe I'm amazed", and I started putting voices down to another of Pat's cover: "Hold me tight". (the middle-8s).

FRIDAY 24th AUGUST 2007

Recording: 'Let me roll it ' (take 1)
Recording: 'Sensation' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'We're not gonna take it ' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

It's been quite a long time since my last recording session. That's because my main computer crashed, and it tool me almost 3 months to have it fixed and to re-install all my system. Add to that the summer holidays and there you go ! Take 1 of "let me roll it" is an instrumental version done by Patrick Lepleux from Ysn. I just added my vocals to it. Then I fixed some vocal parts on my Who project.

FRIDAY 4th MAY 2007

Recording: 'Real love'
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

That afternoon I had some unexpected free time to spend, and I felt in the mood for adding another cover to my Ysn tapes. So I did Real love, as a bare track, just a rich acoustic guitar, with simple vocals, and with two brilliant electric guitars panned hard left and hard right and playing all George's solos and fills. A complete cover done in just two hours.

WEDNESDAY 25th APRIL 2007

Recording: 'Music for a traveling museum' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

Putting down some more ideas, while upgrading the previous ones. Still only guitar and mellotron.

MONDAY 23rd APRIL 2007

Recording: 'Music for a traveling museum' (take 1)
Bag-end studio - night - P: Dude.

The start of this crazy but passionate project. After the sound of the green balls, putting down some guitar parts, and introducing the mellotron.

FRIDAY 30th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'There there' (remake)
Bag-end studio - afternoon - P: Dude.

Redoing "There there", this time with overdubs. It's better, but I'm still not satisfied.

MONDAY 19th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Cheer down' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'There there' (acoustic take)
Bag-end studio - 13:00-14:30 - P: Dude.

Adding some vocals to "Cheer down": half of the backing vocals and a try at the lead. Then I did an acoustic take of "There there", but my voice was way too loud in the mix, so I guess I will have to do it again one day.

SATURDAY 17th March 2007

Recording: 'Cheer down' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - 22:20-24:00 - P: Dude.

I'm in a recording mood, nowadays :)
I did two rythm guitars for 'Cheer down': one clean that plays plain chords thru the song, and one slighty distorted which plays palm-muted root notes for the chords. Then I sarted doing the slide guitar solos. I'm not satisfied which the intro one yet, which I'll probably redo, but I'm really fond of my middle solo. I didn't think I could do it this well enough, considering the very little experience I have in the domain of bottleneck use.

THURSDAY 15th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Casimir Pulaski day'
Recording: 'Mother of violence'
Recording: 'She painted up her face' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Behind blue eyes' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Sensation' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'Amazing journey' (SI on take 1)
Recording: 'We're not gonna take it' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - 13:30-17:30 - P: Dude.

A very productive day of music ! I finally recorded my versions of 'Casimir Pulaski day' and 'Mother of violence', which I was planning to do for months now, and then I was warm enough to attack the beast: the second half of the 'Shove it right in' suite. It was pure fun, pure energy, pure music, .... God I felt so alive... After that I just couldn't stop: I re-did all those Who vocals I was struggling on for months, and got interrupted in the middle of 'We're not gonna take it'. Otherwise....

TUESDAY 13th MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Cheer down' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Finally adding some bass to the drum part I recorded so long ago.

SATURDAY 3rd MARCH 2007

Recording: 'Friendly fire medley'
Recording: 'She painted up her face' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Great vocal works that day. The Sean Lennon medley really was just a warm-up thing. But then I finally started actually giving life to one my greatest musical fantasy: Flo & Eddie's part of the 'Shove it right in' extravaganza ! The instrumentation in this is done by a 14 year old boy (!) named Lou, which recorded his parts in just one day, without even previously knowing the song !

SUNDAY 25th FEBRUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Finally doing the guitar solo for this song. At first, I wanted to do it backwards, but then I chickened out.

THURSDAY 15th FEBRUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Recording the lovely backing vocals for this song.

THURSDAY 25th JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Doing two takes of voices. Each separated by an octave. I haven't decided which one tu use yet. But I have decided a major change: from now on my 'stage' name is going to be "Zongadude", and not the too-simplesque 'Dude' I used so far.

TUESDAY 23rd JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Time to hide' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

Finally doing that song. Adding bass and two guitars. Really an enjoyable session.

MONDAY 22nd JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Little lamb dragonfly' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - 13:30-14:30 - P: Dude.

Rapidly doing the final choir voices for David and going back to work.

SATURDAY 20th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Doing the lead vocal track for that crazy song.

THURSDAY 18th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude.

Just before going to work, I did all the voices for the choir sections of '1985'.

TUESDAY 16th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)

Doing the all the other guitars except for the lead guitar solo to the coda.

MONDAY 15th JANUARY 2007

Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - evening - P: Dude.

The first recordings done with the use of my new E-MU box unit: fours guitars for '1985'. The main two guitars that emulates the piano, and the funky-Chic guitar that appears here and there. Working this this unit is so smooth, that I almost enjoy making recordings again. ;)

WEDNESDAY 3rd JANUARY 2007

Recording: 'Little lamb dragonfly' (SI on take 1)
Recording: '1985' (SI on take 1)
Bag-end studio - morning - P: Dude. - Present: Val, Doreen, Julian.

After a two months break, recording has resumed in Bag-end studio. I finally managed to finish the bassline to 'Dragonfly' which I was doing with David for Ysn. And then I also did the bass for '1985' which was started a long time ago. This was the last recording I ever did with instruments and mikes directly plugged in to the computer. From now on, I would use my new E-MU box.
